The Apostle Paul who referred to himself as the Apostle sent to the Gentiles claimed to have been given (by God) a special message. He was sent to reveal a secret or a mystery hidden from the ages and generations past. In other words it was something that none of the prophets had completely revealed... nor had Christ shared as He walked upon the earth. Considering the hugeness of the revelation, I think it would also be safe to say that the enemy from the time Paul began to deliver this message has done all he can to blind people to it. In fact, as you read Paul's second letter to Timothy you find Paul lamenting the fact that even at that time... as Paul was sitting in a Roman prison cell that most had already turned from the glorious message that Christ had given Paul to proclaim. In Passages such as Romans 5, we get a glimpse into the message given to Paul (the Apostle to us Gentiles). "Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people, so also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people. For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous." Romans 5:18,19 We get another glimpse in his letter to the Philippians: "God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." Philippians 9-11 How can that be? By the working of the Holy Spirit of God!"I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit" 1 Corinthians 12:3 Why was Paul persecuted and hated? For preaching the following message:"For to this end we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe." 1 Timothy 4:10 How marvelous and grand did the Apostle Paul consider the work of Christ? Much more marvelous and grand than the majority of the religious establishment then... and now. "For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross." Colossians 1:19,20 Does that mean God doesn't take sin seriously? No! Take a look at the cross and the bloodied body of our Savior. As Paul described the message given to him by Christ and commissioned to share with us Gentiles, he described it as a "mystery hidden from the ages and from generations." He said that this secret from "the beginning of the world has been hidden in God," He said that "in other ages it was not made known unto the son's of men." Wow!!! In other words, it's not something you are going to find in the writings of the Hebrew prophets... and you aren't going to find it in the life accounts of Christ (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John). It's something that we are only going to find revealed in the writings of Paul. He is the Apostle to "the nations." The Apostle to us Gentiles. In other words, he was a special messenger, given a special message, for a specific people (all of us who are non-Jews). So... if you are a non-Jew he has something to say to YOU!!!!
